Cream Cheese in the Diaspora, Painting, video, archival research, performance, 2020

Following a long tradition of Jewish tragicomedy, Cream Cheese in the Diaspora is a deep dive into the tragic and the absurd through self-deprecating humor and anthropological curiosity. Comedic expressions of cultural stereotypes within the New York Jewish diaspora, such as obsessive dairy consumption, are explored alongside points of Jewish trauma such as the Holocaust and mental health.
